| The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore was founded on 5th September 1929 by Dr.R.K.Shanmugam Chetty (later the First Finance Minister of Independent India) The chamber has had as its President , the illustorious sons of the Industrial city like late C.S.Rathnasabapathy Mudaliar, Late G.R Govindarajulu, Shri G.K Sundaram, Shri K.G. Balakrishnan and Sh. D. Dhorrairaaj. In view of its representative character . it has about 1400 members, a cream of the industry , business and trade which includes 40 corporates and 95 affliated associations. The chamber is always held in high esteem of Governments both at the Center and the State and a lot of importance is given to its views. It is affiiated to Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(FICCI), Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry(ASSOCHAM), Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) and Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and has close links with the chambers of commerce all across the world. |
