| Future Plans A new team of Office bearers headed by Sh. A.V. Varadharajan , President has taken up 3 projects as potential areas of development , namely Infrastructure development , Marketing Coimbatore and Information Technology. The chamber proposed to submit a blue print for Infrastructure development of this region for immdediate requirements and also on short and long term basis on the following lines: I. Problems which require immediate attention: 1. Areas and locations causing Traffic Jams 2. Obstruction and encroachment on roads 3. Formation of traffic island at various points. 4. Widening of railway level crossing for two way traffic. 5. Problems of water supply and improvement of groundwater table. 6. Sewage and drainage. 7. Seeking change in Air and Railway timings. 8. Improving the facilities for Air and Rail Passengers. II. For Action on Short Term and Long Term Basis 1) Construction of over bridges, under bridges and flyovers. 2) Doubling of Railway Track between Irugur and Coimbatore 3) Formation of scheme roads, ring roads , link roads to Bypass Road and widening of existing roads. 4)Lengthening and widening of runway for landing of International Flights at Coimbatore Civil Airport. 5) Establishment of a College of Advanced Management with Foreign Tie up. 6) Introduction of Shuttle Trains between Coimbatore and pollachi, Tirupur, Mettupalayam and Phalaghat for the benefit of commuters. 7) Improving railway facilities in Coimbatore region by introducing rapid Transit System through Circular Railway making use of the existing track |
