Promotional Policies Rules and Regulations

If you are a manufacturing unit, all laws continue to apply upon you unless you are in Export Processing Zones (EPZs) or your unit is a designated 100% Export oriented Unit (EOU) or special areas being earmarked for export activities as Special Economic Zones. Besides these laws, your participation in international trade would require you to understand the special laws, rules, regulations and procedures for Exports/ Imports.

So far as promotional schemes are concerned, they could be divided into two categories- Central and State Policies :


Central Policies/ initiatives:
a. Income Tax Exemption on income generated through export business under IT 80 HAC. (http://www.finmin.nic.in )
b. EXIM Policy details the initiatives. Several Duty Refund Schemes are available to get refund of the duties (excise/ customs) absorbed in the manufacture of export product. . See Duty Exemption Scheme at a Glance
c. Market Access Initiative (MAI) to facilitate marketing of Indian products which seek to assist Indian Exporters in participation of Trade Fairs, Market Research, Brand Building etc. (http://commin.nic.in/doc/mdacode2.htm)
d. Trade Fairs, Buyer-Seller Meets, Foreign Delegations etc. are organized by respective Export Promotion Councils/ Commodity Boards and major associations.
· Market Development Assistance (MDA) for SSIs

State Policies
a. Sales Tax/ Trade Tax exemption on exports is provided by States.
